Gold, Legends & Extraordinary Discoveries: A Truly Remarkable Estate Sale
Some estate sales are filled with beautiful things. Others feel like an invitation into a life shaped by travel, collecting, curiosity and an appreciation for the exceptional. Beginning Thursday, June 18 and continuing through Saturday, June 20, this remarkable event is decidedly the latter—an estate where an 18k gold Omega may be found near ancient stoneware, a pristine alligator briefcase shares space with designer handbags, and nearly every room reveals something you did not expect to see.
The jewelry collection alone makes this an event worth attending. Gleaming from the cases are pieces crafted in 14k, 18k, 22k and 24k gold, many set with diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals and other precious gemstones. Richly colored jade and coral appear throughout the collection, while freshwater, baroque and Tahitian pearls lend their distinctive beauty to pieces ranging from elegant to wonderfully unusual.
Among the most important offerings are two exceptional men’s timepieces: an Omega Constellation crafted in 18k gold and an iconic Rolex Submariner Reference 16613 in stainless steel and 18k gold. These are not simply watches, but enduring symbols of craftsmanship, precision and unmistakable style.
That sense of refinement continues into the closets, where a Louis Vuitton monogram tote is joined by handbags from Gucci, Coach and others, along with clothing by Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Harley-Davidson. Yet the character of this estate cannot be defined by designer names alone. Its real appeal lies in the way luxury, history and the unexpected continually intersect.
One moment you may be admiring handsome furnishings, rugs, lighting and décor by Pottery Barn, ALF Italia, HTL, Amisco Industries, Bernhardt, nuLOOM, Jill Zarin and Uttermost. The next, you may find yourself studying a fossilized sea urchin believed to be approximately 25 million years old, an antique Chinese abacus or primitive stoneware bowls originating from archaeological digs in Asia. More than 25 pieces of raw and polished petrified wood are scattered throughout the collection, each one a natural sculpture formed over millions of years and entirely unlike the next.
The sports and automotive collection carries its own remarkable history. Racing jackets, jerseys, sportswear and memorabilia represent DuPont, Toyota, Bondurant, Harley-Davidson, Corvette, the Phoenix Suns and the Cardinals. One particularly compelling find is a vintage signed football from the Cardinals’ years in St. Louis—before the franchise relocated to Arizona and became the Phoenix, and later Arizona, Cardinals. It is an uncommon surviving piece from an earlier chapter of the team’s history and an especially meaningful discovery for local football collectors. A signed Cardinals baseball cap and additional sports memorabilia continue the story.
The home’s fascination with distant places and traditional craftsmanship emerges in extraordinary forms. There is a Dayak blowgun and spear, Southeast Asian mouth organs, Jim Thompson Thai silk and an exquisite 24k gold-woven Brunei kain tenunan textile. Intricately crafted RISIS golden eggs and sculptures bring still another dimension to the collection, catching the light with their delicate botanical detail and unmistakable artistry.
Even the briefcases, cameras and curiosities seem to have stories to tell. A pristine 1960s hornback alligator briefcase is a striking survivor of its era. Vintage cameras by Nikon, Minolta and Kodak Instamatic recall the days of film and careful composition, while World War II military surgical kits offer a sobering glimpse into another moment in history. A Mercedes-Benz hubcap transformed into a wall clock adds a touch of wit, and vintage fishing reels wait nearby for the collector who recognizes them.
The kitchen is every bit as layered as the rest of the home, combining fine entertaining pieces with objects meant to be genuinely used and enjoyed. Crystal, china and serveware include Artland Celebration champagne flutes, Marquis by Waterford, Noritake Legacy fine china, Cambridge Old England stoneware, Mikasa, Towle flatware and a Tiffany & Co. platter. Sculptural capiz-shell fish platters bring a coastal flourish, while Henckels knives, a substantial Boos Block preparation table and a Cuisinart food processor give serious cooks plenty to discover.
A Sonos soundbar and amplifier, distinctive wall art, coins, collectibles and countless smaller finds complete an estate that refuses to be predictable. This is the kind of sale where the most memorable object may not be the one you came looking for. It may be something ancient, beautifully crafted, wonderfully eccentric or simply impossible to leave behind once you have seen it.
Join us Thursday, June 18 through Saturday, June 20, and allow time to explore. This is not a collection to hurry through. It is a house filled with stories—and behind nearly every door, inside every cabinet and around every corner, another extraordinary discovery awaits.
The address will be posted Thursday the 18h by 6:00am. We appreciate your business and your trust. Drive safe.
