Many of you know that we’ve offered some of the largest vinyl collections in existence. Now this next one! WOW… coming in May is mid-size in quantity with about 2,800 records and packs a punch that is 10x its size.

This May, The Record Parlour will present a spectacular vinyl collection, reflecting a brilliant analytical mind and his music journey across the globe. Known in his youth as the Godfather of Metal in Iran, he ultimately found his home here in Los Angeles and we too found a regular customer expanding his collection by buying only the best Vinyl we had to offer.

Built across four decades, this is a rare, cross-cultural archive spanning metal, ’80s pop, new wave, rock, and jazz—assembled with instinct, obsession, and access that didn’t exist for most.

The story starts in post-revolution Iran.

When music was restricted, metal moved underground—through tapes, through people, through trust. That is where this collection began.

Pirouz K.—known in those circles as the “Godfather of Metal in Iran”—was not just collecting, but circulating. Discovering. Preserving. Sharing.

Then came the U.S.

Graduate school. Yard sales. Crates no one looked twice at.

Years of relentless digging turned this into something else:

Not quantity. Curation.

Not hype. Knowledge.

Known professionally as a professor—often called the Metal Professor—this collection reflects a mindset: analytical, structured, but driven by instinct.

And behind it, real history.

A close friend of Ty Longley, Pirouz K. was meant to attend the Station nightclub on the night of the fire where Great White played. He didn’t go. A last-minute decision.
