Description & Details
Our latest estate sale takes place in the beautiful Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, a great place to explore and escape the summer heat. This large family home reflects a lifetime of flair for fashion, entertaining, and collecting. We’re pulling items from closets, drawers, and boxes daily—every setup session brings new surprises, and the house is filled with treasures ready for new homes.
Among the standout finds is a rare, unopened bottle of Don the Beachcomber flavored Daiquiri mix, discovered in the home’s vintage bar tucked just off the family den. That area also yielded collectible German beer steins, 1960s novelty bar towels, and a charming set of Trader Vic’s salt and pepper figurines. We’re still uncovering more from the bar that we think will excite our tiki and vintage barware enthusiasts—there’s more to be revealed as we unpack.
You’ll also find a striking Empoli cased Italian glass pitcher and a tall Viking Glass petal swung vase, a beautiful black lacquered chinoiserie cabinet with bas relief soapstone and inlay depicting Asian courtesans, a classic barrister three-stack bookcase, and a highly prized Kirby Sentria Model G10D vacuum cleaner. An impressive assortment of souvenir plates rounds out the home’s decorative touches.
Closets are filled with elegant women’s clothing, hats, and heels—many vintage and in excellent condition. We’ve also discovered boxes of vintage dress patterns from the 1960s through the 1980s, a great find for sewing enthusiasts. Music lovers will enjoy browsing a mix of 78 rpm shellac records, some of which are quite unusual and collectible.
Beyond the highlights, the house includes vintage and modern furniture, bed frames, sofas, chairs, appliances, stereo equipment, and an entire kitchen’s worth of glassware and canning supplies. It’s a true digger’s sale, full of quality pieces, one-of-a-kind curiosities, and vintage charm in every corner.
This sale runs Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21. We’ll continue updating the listing with more photos and info as we prepare—check back often!

More Hats! We're starting to look like a Buffum's department store... remember those? We've also unearthed a nice collection of men's hats including Dunlap, Stetson and a well loved "Don the Beachcomber" style outlaw/planter hat. Head to the photos for more fun styles, including a Christian Dior Chevron Turban from the 1960s. High heels and boots in the main walk-in closet are generally a size 8. The lady of the house also liked sewing... we have giant bags of fabric for you to peruse, boxes of vintage patterns and a corner of one of the bedrooms dedicated to her industrious output of fancy, lacey pillows.

We are in the home stretch for our Bixby Knolls Estate Sale, opening Friday July 18. We have set up our costume jewelry station, next to the check out counter. We've also pulled a few items from the garage, including a shiny red Radio Flyer Wagon and Univega 10 speed bicycle, both in like-new condition. Access to the garage will be limited and controlled entry depending on demand. It's a picker situation in the garage, so bring gloves, mask and a flashlight. They'll be plenty of parking in the neighborhood, but please be mindful of the neighbors and do not block their driveways! This property has a long driveway, so there's adequate space to load furniture and other large items on our side of the fence. If you are so inclined, the location is also accessible from the Wardlow St A Line (formerly the Blue Line) Light Rail Station, about a 1/2 mile walk away.
