1716 Swann St. NW - The StoryEstate SaleApril 25-27, 2025 When Richard Mueller, an eccentric nuclear scientist just out of graduate school, bought the house at 1716 Swann in May 1975 it was a mess: floors collapsing from termite damage, roof leaking badly, and the entire house interior painted a pastel mint green, including much of the woodwork and even the bathtubs! But Richard could see a beautiful home in his mind's eye and was determined to make it a reality. Over the course of almost fifty years he restored the house with ingenuity, doing much of the work with his own hands. He was also an avid collector with an eye for antiques and unique items that would complement and augment the space. In 2003 his wife Amy Carberg, an artist and old house enthusiast, joined the project and over twenty years together they were able to fully realize Rich's early vision. In 2023 Richard was diagnosed with cancer and died five weeks later, the end of an era. With Amy relocating to New Hampshire in June, she wanted to share a little about the items you are purchasing today. You are now part of the story and the adventure. Cheers!
