BACKGROUND

Built in 1928 on Lake Marco, this stately two-story home featuring two separate upper levels was purchased in 1932 by the late Robert M. Smith (Sr), Southeast division executive with the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P). Having lost his first family to the fever and childbirth, Mr. Smith remarried Miss Elsie Cochran and started a second family in San Marco. The home was passed to his son, Robert M. Smith, Jr., a Jacksonville lawyer, banker, and businessman. Four generations of the Smith family have enjoyed the home in its largely original state featuring cedar and heart pine and the original wood floors. Presently, the family is preparing the home for repairs and upgrades by offering personal possessions from the 1860s to present in this sale.

The second floor also features more of the Smith Todd possessions AND the household decor and art work belonging to the estate of the late Jane Dever, a buyer for Macy’s furniture for decades and SteinMart buyer of household decor and small furniture. Quality items!
Be sure to visit two separate upstairs! Each is accessed by a different stairwell and is the worth the trip “up!” Use of stairs is at your own risk!
Note the last day will coincide with the San Marco Beer Fest so parking will be at a premium. All we can say is the our estate sale is worth the walk from wherever you park! Amazing collection!
No open drinks of any kind allowed inside the home. Please honor the family’s request. Nearest restrooms are at Publix San Marco location. None are available at the estate sale home.
