About our client:

Sandra (Sandy) K is a multifaceted professional known for her roles in higher-education leadership, interior design, and philanthropy:

Academic & Administrative Career

  • She earned a doctorate (Ed.D.) at the University of the Pacific and in 2003 authored a dissertation titled “A case study of the evaluation of the California Community College Economic Development Program”
  • Sandy dedicated over 30 years at California’s Los Rios Community College District, culminating as Vice Chancellor for Resource Development before retiring in 2011.
  • Following Los Rios, she joined Drexel University as Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director of the Drexel Sacramento Center for Graduate Studies on December 12, 2011. There, she oversaw graduate-enrollment growth and strengthened community ties

Designer & Homeowner in Georgia

  • After retiring from Drexel, she'll relocated from Northern California to Marietta, Georgia, where she runs her design studio, Kirschenmann Design, and resides with her dogs Sophie and Phoebe
  • A self-proclaimed Francophile, she's featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for her French Country–inspired home, replete with a central courtyard, imported French oak doors, and Louvre-inspired décor

Philanthropy & Scholarships

  • Inspired by her late husband Alan’s decade-long battle with lymphoma, Sandy established the Sandra G. Kirschenmann Medical Scholarship at Emory University School of Medicine. The scholarship prioritizes veterans and children of veterans, reflecting both her and her husband’s military service backgrounds—he in the Navy, she in the Army.

Personal Interests

  • A lover of history and reading, she shared on Drexel’s website that actor Daniel Day-Lewis’s portrayal of Lincoln prompted her to revisit Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin during her tenure in Sacramento.
  • Sandy also maintains an active Pinterest presence where she curates boards about home décor, from fireplaces and patios to kitchens and primary bedrooms.
