Description & Details

Less than two years ago we did an estate here for the family who sold it to my current client.  Yep.  He turned around and sold it like almost immediately.   There are some beautiful items still left after my client took what he wanted  and the new buyers bought what they wanted.  It’s still worth the trip!!!   Please do not ask for prices before the sale.  As many as four people can be pricing  and I bet you will ask me for a price on something that I didn’t price!!

Just found this write up on Facebook tonight.  Thought I would share.
“Johnny Cash had nothing on Miss Dena Furlow of Madison, Ga.  She decided to become the Woman in Black long before Johnny ever picked up a guitar. Following an unfortunate divorce in the early 20th century, she began wearing nothing but black.

What is more, her lovely house, known as Broughton Hall, slowly fell into decline.  That decline, however, was short-lived.  After Miss Dena's passing in 1941, the house was sold and via a succession of very thoughtful owners, was brought back to life.

These days it is frequently one of the stars of the show on Madison's frequent home tours held throughout the year.  I happened to catch the house late one afternoon, just as the sun's rays were slanting at a becoming angle.  Happy to report that even though Miss Dena didn't survive the stress and strain of life, the house seems to be holding up just fine.

UPDATE:  Broughton Hall has recently come on the market and appears to be under contract awaiting the next chapter.  Sending best wishes for a bright future to these new owners.
