Sale proceeds to benefit the Deborah L Newton Legacy Endowment which funds annual Deborah Newton Awards (to a 7th/8th grade student and to an accomplished adult artist in perpetuity - https://cfnil.org/deborah-newton-legacy-endowment
Deborah was an accomplished and prolific visual artist in Rockford creating between 1700 and 3000 artworks in her lifetime.
She conceived of what is now known as Rockford's bi-annual ArtScene. The Deborah Newton Awards parallel two that Deborah received (The Katherine Lord Scholarship in the summer between her 7th and 8th grade) and (The Jessica Holt Purchase Award in 1992 placing one of her works in the permanent collection of Rockford Art Museum).
