After three decades, the Washington Street Inn of Bluffton, Indiana is closing and the proprietor, a lifelong collector, is retiring and moving to a smaller home. In downsizing, Kathy will be passing along many of of her treasures which have adorned the 1896 Victorian home and made it a local landmark. The four guest rooms, library and public rooms were all decorated to the "nines" with several rooms having dedicated themes. And yes, the house will shortly be for sale, as well!
The first day, Thursday, March 19th, we will open at noon and remain open until 6 pm to allow for "after work" shopping.
Day two, Friday, March 20th, we will be open 9-3; prices will be reduced by 25% off.
Day three, Saturday, March 21st, we will be open 9-3; prices will be reduced by 50% -half price day!
Bring help to move furniture. We are not able to provide assistance. Bring your own boxes, bags and paper.
- A thousand figurines and novelties, dating from the late 1940s and 1950s, from the Occupied Japan period. This collection runs the gamut of animals, people, kick knacks and more! Glass, wood, metal, china, porcelain, bisque, paper, fabric, textiles, lamps, dinnerware, even a sewing machine! You will have to see the pictures to comprehend the scope of this collection.
- Japanese lustreware mustard sets and other figural objects
- Bell collection: art glass and collectible bells, including bells from all 50 states, months of the year and doll bells representing international ladies.
- British Royal Family collection: 200 plus pieces -plates, mugs, postcards, paper, programs, tins, framed prints and approximately 100 books. These decorated the themed "Royal Room" of the Inn.
- Titanic collection -more than 50 books, reproduction china and other souvenirs from the famous ship.
- American Fostoria collection -150 plus pieces including gasses, stemware and serving pieces that were used to serve guests of the Inn.
- Hundreds of Wade animals, including complete sets like Noah's Ark, Endangered Animals, and the pet shop series display stand; Whimsey on Why the Wade series of British houses and buildings.
- Campbell Kid Collection -more than fifty pieces depicting the adorable Campbell Soup Kids, used to decorate the themed guest kitchen of the Inn.
- Christmas and holiday decor. Silk floral arrangements.
- Concrete outdoor statuary and some lawn furniture.
- 50 plus framed prints and mirrors. Many Victorian prints in antique frames.
