Description & Details
The estate of this prominent Baton Rouge Lawyer has been lovingly composed with many items of interest available and displayed throughout this striking Law office. From the genuine artwork to the quality furniture and the collectible books and décor, this prominent estate is not one to miss. This is the first phase of an extensive, two-phase sale. This first phase includes an ample collection of fine antiques, and office, and home furnishings.
Featured Items
This sale features a very large, conference room size solid wood table,
Audubon hand colored engraving, featuring the White Ibis. This Havell Edition, Plate 222 c.1834 was made in 1834 on J Whatmar Paper. This is the perfect Audubon to enhance any room or collection.
A second featured item on offer is a custom reclaimed wooden table, which is GORGEOUS. This rustic yet elegant table would enhance any space as a farmhouse dining table, a conference table, or library table.
Furniture
The furniture throughout the office tells a Southern Louisiana story, woven with elegance and quality. There are several notable bookcases: an antique 19th century walnut breakfront bookcase, a 6-level barrister bookcase, and a monumental solid wood oak breakfront bookcase circa the19th century with hand carved details. The glass-front doors allow another level of security for items displayed. These lovely bookcases are solid wood, elegant, and large enough to hold books as well as keepsakes. There is also an antique 19th century washed pine bookcase.
The office holds a 20th century desk, made in Italy along with a set of eight upholstered, rolling conference room chairs in a subtly retro teal.
In addition to the larger furniture, there are also many smaller pieces that are available. A set of 5 Windsor style oak back chairs from the 20th century, an early 20th century "Burnt Bamboo" English side table There are also many solid wood side tables, occasional tables, entryway tables, a solid wood desk, and smaller bookcases, and benches.
Housewares
There are fine antiques and housewares interspersed throughout the office. A large variety of décor and accent pieces and functional items are available. Decorative glassware, much with an oceanographic theme, metalwork featuring fish, local artist ceramic, a pair carved wooden catfish sconces, and Christmas items are all featured. There are lamps, art pottery, tabletop sculptures and a variety of carved wooden items, including handmade boxes.
Art
The artwork throughout is amazing! There are Louisiana and Southern motifs. There is a Fish Collage on Board by David Humphries, Local Baton Rouge artist and several Framed Robert Rucker Prints. The antique framed bayou and river maps, antique Southern cultural photographs, botanical prints, and many ocean-themed pieces are unique accents to the office. There are also many decorative art-glass pieces and metalwork as well, including heavy glass sculptures featuring multiple types of fish.
Books and Literature
There are books galore! Law books, Fiction, Non-Fiction and Louisiana titles. The leather-bound selection is notable.
Glassware and Barware
There is a gorgeous set of cut-to-clear cobalt blue cut to clear double old fashion glasses, an excellent gift for cocktail enthusiasts. The kitchen area also includes several types of wine glasses and decanters, as well as a sterling silver water pitcher.
Lagniappe
This sale has quite a bit of stationary and other office supplies. There are some wonderful Louisiana desk accessories including an alligator magnifying glass and letter opener. There is also a set of cute swamp creature paperweights.
