Assemblage Artist Estate Sale – A Rare Opportunity in Eldorado
Thursday, May 1st & Friday, May 2nd | 12 PM – 4 PM
Saturday, May 3rd | 9 AM – 3 PM
With the recent passing of Michael Joseph Kehoe, an extraordinary private collection and a remarkable body of assemblage artworks are now available for public viewing and purchase—many being exhibited for the very first time.
A true Outsider Master Artist, Kehoe's artistic journey began in Des Moines, Iowa, where he completed high school before studying art at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. His formal education was brief; disillusioned by instructors who favored imitation over innovation, Kehoe boldly chose to forge his own creative path—eschewing both institutional validation and the commercial art world. Working across two- and three-dimensional mediums, he remained steadfast in his singular vision, creating works marked by masterful craftsmanship, authenticity, and unyielding artistic integrity.
Now, his family is opening his home and studio, offering an exceptional opportunity to acquire pieces from his life's work and personal collections.
Available offerings include:
- Michael Joseph Kehoe’s original assemblage artworks
- An artist's studio filled with treasures collected from the American South, Hawaii, Japan, and across the United States
- A rare and extensive collection featuring The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and early Blues artists
- A stunning, handcrafted metal twin bed showcasing exceptional metalwork, along with a beautiful full-size bed
- Cameras, slide projectors, archival prints, books, kitchenware, tablecloths, vinyl records, furniture, rugs, clothing, shoes, and much more
Additionally, you’ll find select works by Kehoe’s artist friends, including:
- Howard McKinzie (prints and paintings)
- Matt Ross (stone and wood carvings)
- Shiela Ross (block prints and paintings)
- John Birkbeck (works on paper)
- David Bolin (stone carving)
