Bidders must register with valid ID and credit card to participate. The Auctioneer reserves the right to deny registration based on a bidders record with previous auctioneers or Live Auctioneers.

2. Buyers Premium & Payment:
A 25% buyers premium plus applicable sales tax applies to all purchases. Buyers premium may be lower over a certain amount for some auctions - the details of which can be found in the auction description. Payments are processed through LiveAuctioneers and charged to the card on file within 24 hours post-auction. Full payment is required within 48 hours after the end of sale. Failure to pay may result in sale cancellation, financial liability, and disputes filed with LiveAuctioneers.

3. Shipping & Combined Invoices:
All shipping is handled in-house. There may be a shipping promotion for some auctions so please read the auction description carefully. Multiple lots will be combined for cost-effective shipping. Please await a revised invoice before submitting payment. Customs declarations reflect full sales price. Insurance is available at buyer?s request. International buyers are responsible for customs, taxes, and duties.

4. Descriptions & Condition Reports:

5. Estimates & Reserves:
Pre-sale estimates are for reference and do not predict final sale price. Some lots are subject to confidential reserves.

6. Auctioneer Authority:
Auctioneer has sole discretion over bid acceptance, lot withdrawal, bidding increments, and pace of sale. Proxy bidding up to reserve is permitted.

7. Internet & Absentee Bidding:
Online bidding is offered as a convenience. ACME Auctions is not responsible for technical failures. In combined live/online auctions, floor bids take precedence over internet bids.

8. Ownership & Risk of Loss:
Ownership and risk transfer to the buyer at the fall of the hammer. Buyers are responsible for the security and transport of their purchases.

9. Returns & Limited Guarantee:
All lots are sold without warranty. Returns are only accepted if (a) the physical condition materially differs from the catalog description, (b) a condition report was requested and provided prior to bidding, and (c) the buyer notifies ACME within 24 hours of receipt. Items must be returned within 10 days in original condition. Shipping is non-refundable.

10. Sales Tax:
Applicable New York State sales tax will be applied unless a valid resale certificate is provided. Out-of-state buyers are exempt unless opting for local pickup.

11. Legal Disputes:
Any disputes arising from the auction will be resolved through binding arbitration in Suffolk County, New York. The prevailing party may recover attorney?s fees and collection costs. Non-payment subjects the buyer to additional fees, interest, and legal action.

12. Liability:
ACME Auctions is not liable for damage or loss of items post-sale or for assisting with transport. Items not removed within 12 days may be considered abandoned.

Description & Details

It is a rare occasion when an original-owner Golden Age comic collection emerges from obscurity but once again, the market is graced with such a discovery. We are honored to present a concise yet remarkable assemblage of comic books acquired in the early to mid-1940s in the great state of Maine. This collection features, among others, Marvel Mystery Comics, Prize Comics, Hangman, Adventure Comics, Wonder Woman, Batman, Captain America Comics, Sensation Comics, Action Comics, and Superman - most of which are identified with the same small inscription on each cover.

Complementing this remarkable find are select highlights from other distinguished collections, including a pristine CGC 9.8 copy of Sports Illustrated No. 1 from 1954 with White pages which is the highest grade ever awarded to this iconic premiere issue. We're also throwing in a Mickey Mantle first cover appearance for good measure.

Additionally, the auction will showcase a small selection of Star Wars toys, a broader array of comic books from various collections, and an eclectic assortment of cultural artifacts spanning the past century. We will be adding more lots over the coming weeks so check back often and clear your calendar for Auction day! You won't want to miss it!
