Description & Details
Oliver’s Auction is proud to present the year’s premier gallery auction, a carefully curated January sale that sets the tone for the season ahead. This exceptional offering brings together important Southern furniture, fine Americana, folk art, and decorative arts from distinguished estates and private collections.
Highlights of the sale include a strong selection of Southern country furniture, featuring a fine Georgia painted biscuit board table and an impressive 19th-century Georgia sideboard, alongside English and Continental furniture including Georgian chests and neoclassical forms.
The auction is further distinguished by an important group of paintings by celebrated South Carolina artist James Pearce Wharton, whose works have been exhibited in museums and featured in notable institutional collections, including the Johnson Collection. These paintings—spanning modern abstraction, expressive landscapes, and still lifes—are offered from a descended family collection and represent a rare opportunity for collectors.
Also featured is a robust selection of Edgefield District pottery and Southern folk pottery, including alkaline-glazed jugs and face vessels by noted makers, alongside African American vernacular art, carved folk sculpture, painted boxes, quilts, and baskets. Decorative arts from around the world—European silver, Asian cloisonné, Imari porcelain, majolica, and art glass—round out a sale rich in depth, texture, and history.
The auction goes live January 10, 2026, with bidding beginning to close Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 8:00 PM.
Public preview will be held Friday and Saturday, January 16–17, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with private showings available by appointment.
Nationwide shipping is available.
