Hello and welcome to our sale!

For a bit of background, our clients' parents lived in Indonesia from 1992 – 1998. Their dad was an architect, who served as on-site Project Manager for several large scale resort hotels throughout the region. Some of the pieces offered were custom made for our clients' parents, some were purchased from local artisan shops on their many travels in and around Southeast Asia, and some are sample pieces commissioned for the aforementioned hotel projects. Whatever the case, each and every item in this sale is spectacular and in excellent condition!

On site inspections, perusals, purchases, and load outs, will be available by appointment only, Thursday thru Sunday, June 19th-22nd, from 8:AM – 6:PM. Sale is located in the Polar and Perkins area of Memphis. Please note that a scheduled appointment does not obligate you in any way to make a purchase, we just have to do it this way because the high-rise apartment complex does not allow public walk-in sales.

Balinese sofa / day bed, custom made to our clients' parents' specifications! Crafted by Indonesian artisans in the early 90s, check out the hand carved details! The custom base cushions are covered in moisture resistant indoor / outdoor (undercover) Sunbrella fabric. 72x40x32, seat at 17. $2,400.

This HUGE, comfy vintage rattan club chair and ottoman, were both custom made to our clients' father's design and specifications! The cushions are covered in moisture resistant indoor / outdoor (undercover) Sunbrella fabric. All in excellent condition. Chair is 30x40x42, seat at 16. Ottoman is 25x20x16. $500.

I first thought this trunk was an early 19th Century antique, but that was just because it's made with authentic old world style and workmanship! 34x18x18. $350.

This stunning vintage wicker lounge set was also part of the commercial contract furnishings commissioned by our clients' father for one of his several local resort hotel projects. Hand crafted, in excellent condition, with the added benefit of being built to commercial grade specifications! Chair is 29x30x32, seat at 16. Foot stool is 19x14, small side table, 21x16. $360. (Also available without the table.)

This larger vintage wicker coffee table was made to the same design and specifications as the above lounge set. 31x18. $200.

THE most astounding pieces of the entire collection. Purchased by our clients' parents while on one of their many shopping excursions around Indonesia in the early 90s. Looks like copper, but it's actually hand carved Teak with a pickled finish! The craftsmanship, the design acumen, and absolute attention to detail that went into the making of this set, is off the charts! The table is 28x27, and includes a round glass insert. The chairs are 25x25x33, seat at 16. $2,500.

No amount of words can do this set justice. Absolutely must be seen to be truly appreciated!

This beautiful Chinese pickle jar is what I refer to as a "faithful reproduction", in that it was created in the traditional manner, without the age. A wonderful piece that would compliment any décor. 10x9, plus base. $120.

Now we come to the only other piece in this collection (along with the rug) NOT purchased during our clients' parents' world travels. Instead, this stunning vintage Charles Starr lamp was inherited from an actor uncle (full story below.) Lamp base is 8x18, with an overall height of 32. Shade is 22 tall, by 15 top / 14 bottom. $140.
"The large, old table lamp with the gold shade originally belonged to my mother's uncle, Bill Justice, who was somewhat better known in Hollywood as the actor Richard Travis. Bill spent his childhood and teen years in Paragould, AR, before heading west. Appearing in many “B” movies and TV series in the 1940s and 1950s, his only big hit was in the 1942 comedy "The Man Who Came to Dinner". The attached movie poster shows (L-R) Ann Sheridan, Richard Travis, Bette Davis, Monty Woolley."

At first glance, I was not entirely impressed with this table, solely due to the dated green marble top. But once I saw the hand carved solid Teak base, I was in love! Would look GREAT with a tempered glass top to show off all that stunning detail! Offered with or without the marble top. 37.5x28.5. $300.

This display / storage cabinet was commissioned by our clients' father for one of his several local resort hotel projects. Hand carved Teak in excellent condition, with the added benefit of being built to commercial grade specifications! 39x19x49. $800.

Nothing screams "old world" quite like an 8 foot sofa table with a top that's a single slab of Teak! Also custom made for our clients' parents by Indonesian artisans in the early 90s. 96x28x30, the top is a full 2.5 inches thick. $2,400.

Another "faithful reproduction", these traditional Indonesian wedding figures were made in the precise manner they have been for centuries! You can see the female figure has some minor checking on one leg. Male is 20 overall, female 16. $160.

Check out this beautiful settee, with hand carved Teak frame and wicker infill panels (bottom too.) My favorite piece of the collection, it's the perfect balance between jaw dropping old world craftsmanship and practical functionality. 55x26x32, seat at 15. $1,200.

There simply aren't enough adjectives to describe this early 20th Century Karastan rug! A massive 11 x 20 feet, with the thickest pile I've ever seen - at least an inch thick! The rug was purchased (gently used, from a family friend) in the late 60s, when our clients' parents were living in Midtown Memphis. In the mid-70's, it was Insured for $10,000 – nearly $60K in today's money! It could use a light cleaning, and the edge along the sliding glass doors is just a bit faded, but otherwise in great condition. No worn spots, at all. $6,000.

No amount of voluminously verbose verbiage can do this rug justice. Absolutely MUST be seen to be believed!

Extremely well executed, exquisitely detailed, mid-century wood block print on paper. "Good Luck Geisha", after Isoda Koryūsai. Minor staining, but still a lovely piece for its age. Paper size is 6x25, overall 13x33. $100.

Very nice fired clay jar with incised detailing. No other discernible markings. 10x13. $75.

Black Chinoiserie sofa / hall table. I would call it a bench, but it's of hollow thin wood construction, apparently not made to hold much weight. Beautiful gloss paint finish. 39x16x21/24. $180.

Indigenous serving dish hand carved from a single piece of solid Teak. Adorned with seated beast characters, and woven rattan edge trim. 15x8x5. $60.

Hollow bronze Buddha head on carved wood base. 6x9. $40.

Lovely decorated dried gourd vase, hand made in Kenya. 8x8. $40.

This lovely desk was purchased in the mid-90s by our client's mother, directly from the obviously highly skilled Indonesian artisan who gave it life! 100% hand crafted, with exquisite hand carved details. 39x37x41. Two pieces. $600.

Lovely antique Art Deco Limoges pitcher. No chips, although there is some minor wear to the 24 ct gilding. $75.
