The Retro Politan Museum is about Everyday American Life and Pop Culture during the Mid 20th Century. You will find countless items in Mint or Near Mint Condition, New Old Stock items still in the 1950’s factory packaging, and some items that were just too iconic to pass up. It’s mostly about what life felt like in the Mid 20th Century so Grandparents could reminisce and share with the younger generations. After all, and like the owner says, “How can you know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been?”
This auction is an ABSOLUTE HEYDEY OF MIDCENTURY TOYS. Can you imagine? There are Tin Toys, Barbie in some of the most rare outfits we have seen to date, Madame Alexander (oh yes, that is Elise wearing the Bridal Wreath Gown), Vogue Ginny & Ginnete, Sindy has furnishing here direct from England, Dime Store Trick Toys that are NOS (a whole bunch), Cowboys & Indians, THE ORIGINAL POGO STICK, Scooter, & so much more we simply cannot list it all.
The Mid Century Lady of the House is so well represented in countless displays of Beauty Items, Fashion, etc. Formal Couture, Purses and Shoes, Mink Coats, a Mouton Coat, and several Mannequin Heads, with the most Mod Mid Century Headgear you will ever find, are some of the options up for bid here. House Cleaning Supplies pop up, like that DUZ Detergent she would have used to clean up in 1954. Tupperware? Oh yes, the most unique and pristine Caddy and Tumbler Set you’ve seen to date - in pastels. And there is more, you’ll just have to seek out the 3 big Tupperware Lots. Mid Century Decor is spread out through the museum, and there is even yet more to explore.
Having a baby in the Mid 20th Century was certainly not as convenient as it is today, but the Baby Items in this auction tell the story of how and why things were getting easier for the Mid Century Mama. She would have appreciated the Evenflo Bottle Set in Lot 261a, the nice, convenient Wooden Playpen in Lot 143, and, maybe we wouldn't dream of carrying our baby in the car in that Infaseat in Lot 353, but it was the very 1st baby carrier ever made. You could now carry your baby without holding in your arms, you could prop him up with the bar in the back, and you had something to finally contain the child in the car.
SO, we ask again, “How can you know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been?” Come along with LOA on this journey back to the Mid 20th Century. Be sure to do your research from now until the auction close at 7:00PM on August 13, when we expect this auction will be fast paced with bids as high as the research suggests, and fierce competition. GOOD LUCK with your highest bids and we look forward to seeing you in North Richland Hills, Texas during the days following the auction as you will pick up your new Mid Century Treasures.
And as our many nationwide customers already utilize, we offer nationwide shipping on smaller items, as marked throughout the auction.
