Sale By Gale
Description & Details
Step into the legacy of Art Gallery Operator (Hodges Galleries) where for one-day we will showcase art, furniture and vintage Christmas decor only. This home is packed but there was too much goodness to wait any longer for a sale. The full house sale will be later in January after we've made our way through the rest of the home, attic and shed.
This exclusive one-day event will feature:
- Original Artwork – Numerous local, national and international artists of classical and modern works which made their way into the galleries and collections in the Washington DC DMV region via Hodges. The artists include Samuel Baldwin Pratt, Oscar Howe, Pulak Gogoi, Robert Bruce Williams, Joe and Mary Bodner, M. Ziegler, Bourdelon, Van der Loeff, Doris Gilbert, Paul Henze Morro, K. Warnaar, Mavique, Pat Hodges and others. Much of the art is European inspired as Hodges painted while stationed in Europe during WWII. She later turned to more abstract pieces. All art is professionally framed in frames that stand as works of art themselves.
- Antique Furniture – interesting pieces with charm and character, including a mid-century bar with six stools, storage chests including Habersham-built ones, Habersham Queen Anne two-piece stackable dresser, dining tables, antique dressers, Asian-inspired black lacquer dressers and jewelry boxes, and various antique chairs.
- Vintage Christmas Decorations – tons of old-school holiday items you won’t see in today’s stores, including handmade ornaments by Pat Hodges, artist and matriarch of this estate. As a military family during WWII many are European, including Dresden German nativity set and angel collections.
Please note: this sale is focused solely on furniture, artwork, and holiday decor. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through the home, attic and shed to bring you additional sales in January that will include vintage clothing, quilts, more art, historical military items and vintage furniture.
