Description & Details

The is the third and final weekend of this estate sale.  It will be three days long, beginning on Friday, 23 May, and ending on Sunday, 25 May (the day before Memorial Day), 9am-4pm each day.  We will be offering progressive discounts:  30% off price marked on Friday, 40% off on Saturday, and 50% off on Sunday.

Still available are the bear head, a few animal pelts (2 black bear, fawn, RARE albino deer skin, 2 fox), aluminum canoe, many books, many prints, some collectibles, and some furniture.  We have sold a lot in the two outbuildings closest to the house, so that now you can see more items.  Prized among them are the two oak print drawer cases, one currently turned upside down on top of the other.  In that same outbuilding, we have shelved many vintage glass jars that we unpacked.  Another valuable collector's item is the 10-gallon copper barrel with spigot and lid.  It is in the addition room behind the summer kitchen.  The kitchen has only 6 vintage pottery bowls left, plus iron trivets, and cooking items. The John Deere riding lawnmower is still available as well.

We have moved a small antique oak table plus oval braided rug into the living room and put bowls, plates, plus one FINE CRYSTAL pedestal bowl on it.  We repaired a large coffee table-style display cabinet (approx 27" x 48") that was in the glassed-in room beyond the great room, so now you can finally see it.  Look around to find the Venetian/Murano glass fish in aquarium, the Royal Doulton female, the antique Satsuma bowl flanked by 2 embroidered spherical dolls, wall-hung hat/coat rack with 5 swinging metal hooks, a clear glass bowl and round serving tray with silver overlay, large octagonal lidded light green (probably for pickles) jar.  We have only about 10% of the glass bottles that we started out with.  For this last sale, we have grouped together the heavy wool navy shirts, one hat, one pair of wool pants.

This is an opportunity for you to acquire antique and vintage items like the following:  lantern slide projector, sewing table with cherry top over drawer, brass spittoon, hanging balance scale, original graphite sketches related to Civil War, vintage photos of street car and old fire truck in Alexandria, Christmas ornaments, model railroad track/fencing, zither, school desk with inkwell in writing top and seat in front, set of three large white with gilt trim serving pieces (lidded tureen, sauce boat with matching tray, lidded casserole) dating from 1860s, rectangular stool with cutout handgrip in center, pipe organ.

We found, unboxed, and displayed two more boxes of glass electric insulators.  We unpacked one more boxed partial set of dinnerware, having a cobalt rim band.  We have regrouped the remaining Wedgwood white-on-blue jasperware on one table in the great room.  You will find the assortment of vintage fishing spears in a wood barrel to the right of the fireplace there.  If you have space for it, we have a 30" clay pipe branded/incised as made in Alexandria, VA.

Remember that we are offering the house parts to the highest offer, by OPEN BID, by the end of June.  They include ceiling/roof beams, LONG wood shelves, custom-made doors of walnut and cherry, floor boards.
