THE COLLECTION OF HUBERT & MARY LOU HARMAN
Online Auction

INTERNET BIDDING FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE
One of the most fascinating parts of offering collections like these is getting to know members of a family that have been in the area for over 100 years. If you are in the area of Floyd, Check, or Copper Hill VA and mention the last name of Poff there is a good chance you will meet a relative or friend of this family. From the front porch of the home of Hubert and Mary Lou you can see surviving buildings from the 1900s including the home of Mary Lou Poff Harman’s grandfather. Her father built his family home across the street around the 1930s where this collection now resides.
This collection has something for every buyer. It includes handmade items such as quilts, baskets, and an outstanding Childs boxcar made from a wooden coffin. Local advertising includes a funeral home thermometer from Mayberry Funeral Home in Floyd VA & Clover Creamery Embossed Milk Bottle. Fine Jewelry includes a 10K Gold High School ring from Willis VA, 10K & 14K gold necklaces, earrings, and pendants, as well as three 14K Gold rings with Diamonds. Locally recorded music can be found in a collection of records as well as other country and folk classics. One standout includes a signed album from Virginia band the Statler Bros. Furniture highlights include art deco bed suits, an antique oak washstand & oak hall tree, a country style stepback cupboard & farm Style kitchen table. Also offered are art glass & chalk ware pieces, new and antique tools, and original artwork as well as signed prints.
Be sure to check out the items that are directly connected to the Poff Family. Those items include store and expense Ledgers from the 1900s as well as pieces from the family-owned mill that previously existed on the land. These items tell a history that is sure not to disappoint. Happy Bidding.
