DID YOU KNOW….
The name Wauwatosa, is derived from the Potawatomi lantuage, referencing both a chief and the word firefly. Specifically, it is named after the Potawatomi chief Wauwautaesie and the Potawatomi word for "firefly", wau-wau-tae-sie. The area is also known for the abundance of fireflies in the Menomonee River Valley.
