Sh*t And Shinola

You don't know the difference between sh*t and shinola.  That was one of my dad's favorite colorful sayings when I was young.  The phrase is a colloquialism which dates back to the early 1940s in the United States.  Shinola was a once-popular brand of shoe polish, which had a color and texture not unlike you-know-what.
