The piece features a stack of seven drawers, six of which are the same size and one smaller top drawer, bottom opens with doors for more storage, a configuration known in French as a semainier (weekly planner). It also has a two-door cabinet section at the very bottom. The uprights are carved to look like large, realistic bamboo rods, and the drawer fronts are trimmed with half-round moldings.
