Doug Bratcher, American, Louisiana, 20th Century, SIGNED AND DATED Olive Jar, Monumental size of 36” high by 17” wide at the mouth. Mr. Bratcher was commissioned by Hays Town to make an Olive Jar for each of homes he designed, to be placed at the front door. Sadly, he died at a young age. These jars are quite rare and highly sought. This jar shows one spiral crack, as shown, however, the crack does not appear in the interior of the pot. These works by Bratcher often show great wear over time if left completely exposed to the elements. We recommend it be placed under a deep porch, or inside, just as this one has.
