Pia Young (Messina)
Born in Turin, Italy, she moved to the United States in 1969 and lived in the New York City area for many years before moving to Bellevue, Washington in 1989.
She studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in Manhattan.
While her early training focused on classical techniques like china hand-painting, she eventually transitioned into impressionistic and cubist-inspired landscapes and still lifes.
She is a Signature Member of several prestigious organizations, including the National Watercolor Society and the New Jersey Watercolor Society.
While she worked extensively in watercolors, her paintings on canvas or board often utilized acrylics or oils with relaxed compositions and "sharp images" designed to capture a "cheerful" mood.
