A little history for you all. We are in Battlefield for this one, near the Trail of Tears Trail. Bet some of you didn't even realize the Trail of Tears came through this area! The Cherokee Nation's relocation occurred in 1838 and their 1,000 mile march took them straight through Springfield and Battlefield. Records show the Cherokee did not want to be escorted and therefore supervised, outfitted, and conducted their own journey to what is now Oklahoma.
