These are original early 20th-century theatrical broadsides promoting Robinson Bros. Mammoth Uncle Tom’s Cabin Company, a touring troupe performing dramatizations of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe’s famous anti-slavery novel. These posters are examples of “Tom Shows,” popular theatrical adaptations that continued into the early 1900s and were often criticized for racial caricatures and historical inaccuracies.
