Hermès Paris / Éloi 1830-A Silver 5-Franc Coin Manicure Tool with Box

Vintage Hermès Paris manicure multi-tool manufactured by Éloi, ingeniously constructed within the two split faces of an 1830-A Louis-Philippe I French five-franc coin.

The compact tool includes folding scissors, blade, and file. All tools open smoothly and function perfectly, and the blades remain sharp. The primary blade is marked HERMÈS PARIS and ÉLOI FRANCE; the file is marked DÉPOSÉ with a circular Éloi-type maker’s mark.

The modified host coin reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANCAIS with the N. P. TIOLIER signature on the portrait side and 5 FRANCS 1830 on the reverse. The A denotes the Paris mint; the star and anchor are period mint/engraver symbols. The original coin type was .900 silver, but this example was permanently converted into the tool and is not being represented as an intact collectible coin.

Includes the fitted vintage orange Hermès box marked HERMÈS / 24, FAUBG ST-HONORÉ / PARIS.

Condition: Excellent mechanical condition. All tools function smoothly and the blades remain sharp. The coin and metal components show vintage patina and surface wear. The box shows age-related edge and corner wear and interior spotting.
