Translation: The Red House

Kvapil studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. His first works were
exhibited in 1908 at the Antwerp Salon. Following that, they were exhibited in Munich,
and Brussels.
He leads a very impoverished existence but has an optimistic temperament. At the 1920
Salon des Independents, he is revealed to the Parisian Public. In 1923, his works were
hung in Limoges. Following that he exhibited in Paris, Munich, Brussels, Geneva, Italy,
Stockholm, London and New York. His paintings are original and modern. His palette is
rich in cobalt blue and warm colors. His technique is voluntary and powerful. He is a
tireless worker and brings him to say: “It is necessary that the painter speaks little, but
he paints a lot.”
