Edition: A unique work. Executed by Prehn c.1940.
Prehn was actually born in Russia and spent much of his childhood years traveling to
Britain during the summer months. In 1922, he and his family moved to Latvia where he
would study art and take active part in the local art community there. As an artist he
mostly worked on landscapes, especially after his trip to Italy in 1935. Finally, in 1941,
he settled in Scotland there he would continue working as a painter and educator.
His exhibits were held in the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh and also the Royal Academy
of Arts in London. In the later part of his life, he became focused on his career as an art
educator. A posthumous exhibition of his art was set up at the Fine Art Society in
Edinburgh. His wife, Irina Prehn donated more than 40 of his works to the State Perm
Art Gallery in Russia.
